try popping a pacifier in his mouth while you burp him. that way the craving he has for suckling is met, and he's occupied while you help him get all those air bubbles out.
sometimes gas can be uncomfortable too if they go too long between burping sessions.

i usually would break the ounces down by 3 or 4 burp sessions, instead of just burping half way through. you could try that too, and see if it helps w/the gas pressure.

The screaming will only make the gas worse. Not all babies need to be burped after every feeding, especially breastfed babies. If they latch on well and don't let go and relatch a lot then there won't be alot of air. Unless he is spitting up or is fighting the breast/bottle, try it his way. Just let him eat until he's done and then burp him. Don't let him stop and start a lot, if you are breastfeeding, watch what you eat (stay away from onions, garlic, broccoli and other foods that can cause gas), and just let him eat. Once he's done, let his stomach settle for awhile by holding him upright for awhile before you start burping. The gas will make him feel fuller, so if he is still hungry, he doesn't have enough gas to worry about burping him just yet. Babies don't know enough yet to second guess their bodies, if he's still hungry, let him eat.

Does he take a pacifier? I have a little boy in my in-home daycare that does the same thing, he NEEDS to burp but will freak out if I try to take the bottle way, so I put his pacifier in his mouth while I burp him and it usually keeps him calm for long enough that I can get a burp or two out of him...and yes he can burp with a pacifier in his mouth :-)

Nope.. just burp him as fast as you can and give him the bottle back, or you could wait until he looks ready to burp. He'll let you know by not being interested in the bottle anymore... then you know it's time for a burp then he'll take the bottle back... how old is your son?

i have the same problem with my 10 week old son, i usually just put his bottle back in and allow him to carry on feeding and then try taking it out again a minute or so later until he doesn't cry when it is taken out or only cried for a few seconds and then stops, my son also gets quite bad wind but this method has never resulted in him being sick or anything, you'll probably find that if they are still hungry enough to cry they have not had enough to make them sick and its better just to carry on, hope this helps

If you bottle feed,he may swallow air too. There are may air vent bottles available in market .While bottlefeeding the nipple should be filled fully by milk.Partially filled milk will allow air to be swallowed. He may be uncomfortable because of the gas .You may check with your pediac about gas relief drops.
