X+2HCl ------> XCl2 +H2;
As 2.24x10^-2dm3 of H2 gas is evolved or 0.0224 liter of H2 gas,it means 0.0224/22.4 =1/1000 M of H2 is evolved;
or 1/1000 M of X must have reacted;
but the actual wt. of Metal X is 24 mg,it means 24 mg of X is equivalent to 1/1000M or Mol. wt of X is =24mgx1000=24 Gms .
Which is for Mg.
Hence, the correct answer is Mg.
