For anyone in any defending situation having BOTH the right mindset and the right skillset are critical! The difference between a man and woman can be size and strength so aggressiveness combined with the right skills may even the playing field. That said, what has been proven effective is usually the best choice and Krav Maga has been praised by police, military and even special forces for its effectiveness. Contrary to some posters above it is NOT a martial "art" but a system combining the most effective parts of multiple arts. You might also consider Brazilian Jiu Jitsu as it was designed to allow a smaller and weaker person to overcome a much larger and stronger opponent. If giving a recommendation I would highly recommend both KRAV AND BJJ which, although two different philosophies, they complement each other very well. Do your own research and take a look at what is being utilized most by law enforcement, military and in the UFC. Best of luck!

Yes they should..........a lot of violent crimes are committed against women by men mostly. If we were to have some defense training it would at least give us that bit more of a chance in protecting ourselves, men are typically stronger so if we knew our stuff we might stand a chance.

Yes!

(... unless they have some previous experience in street fighting...)

it is life saving knowledge, that every women can use. one doesn't even have to be strong, to defend themselves. they just have to know what actions can immobilize an attacker. i am prepared to go for the elbows, knees, throat (and if the attacker is a man: the #1 target every girl knows), myself.

i'm not even strong anymore, due to a shoulder and leg injury... but i have confidence in the ability to defend myself.

they should! women get abuse more then men do, and if they learned self defense then they will be able to be prepared for any predators in the future!

I think everyone should take self defence classes, then we'd all be able to defend ourselves if we needed too, men women and children.
