Yes, play with him and sing to him a lot! Sing the alphabet song when you change his diaper, sing songs about colors, numbers, everything. Count things throughout the day, talk about what you are doing using regular adult language. Sit on the floor and stack blocks, drive cars, play with your baby. All of these things help your baby learn. Singing is fun and great for a baby's brain, baby's don't even care if you can't carry a tune! Playing is the best education your child can get right now. Playing with water in the bathtub, playing with blocks, stuffed animals, even your pots and pans teach your baby a lot about the world, physics, colors, shapes, and more. Taking 20 minutes to play with your baby is like spending hours teaching an older child to read. Leave the dishes for awhile, grab some crayons!

I agree that playing is the best form of education right now. Build with blocks, play peek-a-boo and hide toys under a blanket for him to find, sing to him and play lots of music - classical is supposed to be really good for brain development! Read lots of books to him and point out things in the pictures. As he grows, ask him to find the flower or the cat. Make the sounds when looking at animals! Just talking to him will help his language and speech development. I used to walk around the grocery store talking to my babies and telling them everything I was doing. Sure, I looked a bit silly, but they all responded to my voice and it kept them engaged. Trips to the library, school, park, store or Post Office are great learning experiences!

Remember that babies can get overstimulated, though. When your son starts getting fussy or turning away from you, just give him some time to play by himself or take a nap.

He is learning everyday! Read him books, count to him, sing the alphabet, walk around the house picking things up and telling him what they are, play music for him, let him feel different textures! Especially talking to him. This will teach him more than you think!
