Hi i've been on the birth control goin on 3 months now and this past month I wasn't taking them at usual time and for three times I would forget a pill but i always did take them as soon as I remembered. I'm currently on week four with the reminder pills and I was wondering would I be on track again when I start taking the white pills again because some say if you miss or continue to take them at the wrong time throw that packet out and start a new one.

Also, not sexually active at the time.

Thanks!

Well I did finish the last pack and im currently on my period. Today is the 1st day i'm supposed to be back on the white pills. So i'm asking since I kind of messed up on my days from the last pack, and did double up on the ones I missed so that I finished that pack, I should be fine since i'm starting fresh with a new pack after my period?

If you aren't sexually active- don't worry about it! I ALWAYS mess up when I'm supposed to take mine. If you are on the placebo pills right now and want to get back on track..how long was it before you remembered to take them? If you are less than 3 days behind where you want to be on the pack, just wait. (I know this isn't what doctors recommend but that is what i used to do when I forgot mine) When your placebo pills are gone, and then don't take anything until you want to be on the day that youre supposed to be. BUT only if it's less than 3 days. (your period could come back!) But if you are right on schedule and didnt forget your pills for days but for hours, start it on the day you would normally start the pack...Sunday, Tuesday..whatever.

If you're on the reminder pills, it doesn't matter if you forget one of these as long as you start the next pack on the appropriate day. You don't have to take birth control to the exact hour. As long as you take it that day, you're ok. If you piss a pill take 2 the next day, don't just miss a day and then pick it up. Make sure you use a condom because if you didn't take 2 on the missed day, then the whole pack is useless and you're susceptible to get pregnant. Plus it takes a whole pack for it to become effecitve again, so it's not worth it to miss pills at all - it takes 2 months for it to be effective again and just not worth it. I'd miss a lot of pills and switched to the NuvaRing which you put in once a month.

You should be reading the pamphlet that came with the pills regarding missing pills. Some are ok to miss (the reminder pills) and some have you either double up one day or throw out the entire pack.

You could take a few pill packs to get back on track after missing that many pills.

Google your pills and then look around for "missed pills" to see what to do next time.

It's not a huge deal if you take a pill later in the day; the main problem is if you miss days. If you have done this or taken a lot of pills at the wrong time, throw them away and recalibrate yourself by waiting to get your period, then start from scratch...so long as you are sure you won't be having sex in the next 6 weeks or so.

Ur suppose 2 take both when u notice I've missed the days and when u get ready 2 take ur third one, just take it on time like u would if u hadn't missed those 2 days. But yeah, u still can get pregnant....and the trick about birth control pills, u have 2 take them everyday @ the same time 2 not get pregnant. For example, if u take a pill @ 3pm on Monday, u have 2 take it everyday @ 3pm, u cant take it @ 3pm Monday and then 5pm on Tuesday and then Wednesday u take it @ 2:45pm...u c what im saying. My doctor told me that, and now that I think about it....it makes perfect sense!

I would finish that pill pack first. If and when you are sexual, I would definitely use condoms. Also If you have a cell phone set it on as an alarm. That's what I do!! I take it every night at 10:00 pm and I never forget because my alarm always goes off!! Good Luck!!

Ohhh i know the problem.....i dont think ive ever taken mine at the same time of day more then twice in a row and am ALWAYS forgetting.

But i asked my doctor about it and she said to ignore the packet i am on start again first day of next period and i will be covered just so long as i take them at around the same time everyday and dont miss any!!

Argh easier said then done.

You did the right thing by doubling up when you remembered. And yes if you don't skip any this time your period should be as normal, however, I would use a back up method this month just to make sure your "safe" if your planning on having sex.

I would wait a month with regular dosing if you are planning on having sex. It would still be safer to use a condom as a backup, just in case.
