Hi everybody !
I have found a job in Pasadena, CA. I know that housing there is quite expensive and I would like to buy a house no more than 25 minutes away by car from Pasadena and in a nice area. We have 2 children and would like to find a place where we can walk around safely, do shopping without needing the car all the time and ... not so expensive as Pasadena. Please, do you have any suggestions ? I would appreciate them a lot !!

South Pasadena is very family-friendly and convenient for shopping on foot.
You may want to look at Arcadia, Alhambra and Sierra Madre, as well.

It depends on what you mean by 25 minutes away in a car. I live 7 miles from work and it takes me a half hour. There really are not that nice of areas around pasadena besides pasadena. Traffic from any of the nice places around pasadena will put you at least an hour away.

Home prices in Los angeles county will drop by about 30% next year. I'd wait till then.

rent as close to work as possible...
your not there yet....25 min away could be less than 2 miles. I grew up 15 miles south.
