I think this might be more of an American thing -- I'm a big girl, and while I frequently get looked at with disgust here at home, whenver I travel, I seem to magically get more attractive. :oP
Frankly, on my last trip overseas, I got hit on more in two weeks over there than I have in the past 5 years here in the US. (And for the record, it wasn't because I was from the US. I speak the local language pretty well & with a native accent, & people were frequently surprised that I wasn't a local.)

Otherwise, it's based in the common perception of fashion and what is determined to be stylish and in. Right now, it's the super-thin look that frankly, the majority of women can't pull off without potentially dangerously starving themselves.

And it's not just fat---I overheard one of my younger male coworkers saying how ugly the 3 women drivers from the Indy 500 looked when they were all dressed up at the awards banquet. These gals are trim and in excellent shape, but they've got more muscles than your average fashion model and it shows. Nothing grotesque or exaggerated, but there's more to there shoulders than skin and bones. He thought this made them ugly.

Because we all gain weight as we age, thin is attractive when you are young. It's not the MEDIA! Fat is not healthy. "So thin" as you stated- do you mean an anorexic, as people are taking your question? Black men deep down , if they are able- want a thin woman, whether she's black or white. Depends if the guy can get a thin woman. Whatever color you are, there is no denying thin is attractive (Naomi Campbell, Halle Berry, Vanessa Williams). Would you consider Starr Jones or Monique to be attractive women?

Not all white men are attracted to thin women. My husband, a very attractive White Man, Has never been attracted to thin Women. He is only attracted to plus size women. There are a lot of white men out there that love curvy women, trust me!

When I first met my wife,she was not fat,she was a healthy weight. I guess she bought into the "anorexia is sexy" train of thought,because she went on a crash diet,I suppose to make herself more attractive to me.She was nothing but skin and bones. It got to the point where I had to make an ultimatum"gain a little weight or I leave,I won't watch you kill yourself". Thankfully,she realized I am not attracted to extremely skinny women,more like I want to give them some money to go get a burger or something.She got to eating normally,and while not at all fat,does have some meat on her bones. I don't know why the advertisers promote super skinny as sexy. Who wants to ___ a skeleton?

My husband (a white man) has told me several times. He does not find super thin women attractive. As he puts it, he likes to know he can hug me, without having to worry about breaking me like a toothpick.

It's just tastes. Oh, and, what's the word, maybe peer pressure. There's this simile that doing a fat chick is like riding a scooter. It's fun but you don't want to tell your friends. Now the question is "what's fat"? One man's "heavy but within tolerance" is another man's obese. But so what. You can't worry about what other people's tastes are.

ALL MY WHITE BOYFRIENDS PREFER HEALTHY LOOKING PEOPLE. IM QUITE AVERAGE AT 5FT2 AND 130 AND IVE RECEIVED TONS OF COMPLIMENTS FROM THEM ALL ON MY BODY FIGURE.
