Why would you want to go to college for that? There are no "event planning" undergraduate degrees. The idea that an institution of higher learning would have such a program is laughable. I really don't intend to come across as a jerk here, but do you really expect a school will have you taking calculus as a freshman and then napkin folding at the senior level? What would the classes be, Cute 301?

OK, I'll reign it in. There's nothing wrong with wanting to be an event planner, but it's really not the kind of profession you can study for. If anything, you might find a community college that would offer some program. It would be similar to something like a technical degree in say, fashion or HVAC.

I would recommend you just get a job at a hotel and work your way up. Why waste your time and money on college? There are good hospitality management programs if you plan on being a manager in a hotel. Offhand I think Cornell, Northwestern and UNLV would be worth taking a look at.

You're right. I would look for colleges with a Hospitality Management degree and some even have that degree futher broken down so that you can get an event planning certificate or specialty. While you're getting your degree make sure you find some internships so that you get some experience to supplement your degree.
