Obviously the previous answers you received are not from Lions fans. We have a heck of an Offense, but the Defense scares me. Kitna may not be a "franchise" quarterback, but he is the most solid QB we have had since I can remember. He is not very mobile, but if you give him the time, he will get the ball to the receiver. We have a decent RB in Kevin Jones if he can fully recover from his ankle injury. If he can't, we got Tatum Bell to carry the load. We got TJ Duckett for short yardage and Bryson for 3rd down passing situations. We have a more solid Offensive line this year and that should help Kitna and the running game quite a bit. Defense up front is decent. We got Rogers back and healthy. All of our linebackers are back healthy. We took a hit in the secondary, so I am nervous but with the cover 2 being our primary defense and with the experienced safeties we have, we might be alright. We should win 7. If we go 8-8 I am throwing a party.

George Foster should help the running game because thats what he does best. Adding Tatum Bell is a waste of money because he is an average back and is just an insurance for teams. If Kevin Jones can stay healthy and rush for 1200+ yards and about 25 touchdowns, than Jon Kitna well be more capable of passing to Roy Williams and their new target Calvin Johnson. Yet, they need another WR, someone smaller and more faster and illusive, someone like a Steve Smith (Carolina Panthers).
Defense well be much better but still needs to improve. Alama-Francis and Ernie Sims along with Dwayne Smith (???) should prove to be a mighty force.
I say they go 7-9 this season...

they might suprise and go 6-10 or 7-9. The D is not solid enough. COuld mold into a great team but it is Detroit and Millen can always manage to jack things up! Detroit fans going to show up for one half of football then leave? I didnt understand that, you already paid and the left so that didnt really hurt the feelings of ownership when they got paid anyways! I would just not show up! Too bad with Kevin Jones, injuries have really slowed what was a really promising back!

They will improve. Their record won't be a great reflection of it but they will put themselves in position for success in the future. Their WR's (possibly the best in the NFC) are obviously phenomenal but they don't have a consistent RB to take attention away from them... no *proven* *franchise* QB (including Kitna) to get them the ball and grow with them... and NO O-Line to give time to let the plays develop. The D is young and improving.
Short Answer: With good coaching they will individually improve but they aren't making it above as a team .500 this year... maybe next year.

I'm a fan too, and as mentioned earlier..
5 wins WOULD be a good year for them.
(An 8-8 season would be like the team winning the freakin' Superbowl for most of us... )

Define good. If they win 6 games then I say its a good year for them. If the Pats won 6 games we would all be on here talking about how much they suck.

Not even close on either one of those questions. Their record will be 5-11, but don't hope for much more or you'll be let down if you are a fan.
