Just got a small peace of boltwoodite. didn't know it was radioactive. should I keep it? If I get rid of it how do I do so? My minerals are in a glass display case and I really dont feel like having this around.

Boltwoodite is a rather rare mineral, so if you don't want to have it around (which is understandable) contact your closest college or university's geology department to see if they would like to have it. Good chances they will since it's hard to come by. Depending on the size of your piece, keep it away from pets and humans. Just don't throw it away.

Halfway down the linked website is a table regarding size of sample and radioactivity. Please consult this table to determine the potential danger you are at risk for.

Good luck!

I would keep it. Its a nice mineral to have. But if you don't want to keep it call your local colleges and universities. They would welcome the addition and would know how to store it.
