I remember reading his books in the 1970's. Isn't he dead?
Anyway, I liked "The Betsy" and "Rage of Angels."

I loved Sidney Sheldon. Let me tell you a story, About 13 yrs ago I was working as an assistant manager of a Large apartment community in Lexington KY. Every year we would sponsor a family for Christmas that was under privileged and that year we had a family of 14. The oldest child wrote on her wish list "all I want is a Sidney Sheldon book and please spend the rest of the money on my brothers ans sisters" for a 16 yr old girl to write this who had nothing broke my heart. So I contacted Mr. Sheldon's publicist and with in hours he called from Australia (Mr. Sheldon). He sent her several autographed books as well a HUGH gift card for her to take shopping. He was great and I would read anything he wrote.

In the past I thought they were very entertaining, quick reads. When I'm leaving to go on vacation, he used to be one of the authors I have picked up at the airport bookstore because you always know there is going to be a beginning-middle-end that is fairly predictable. "Stranger in the Mirror" is the one that had the greatest impact because Jill the wife had such a dark side.
Today, I am more likely to pick up Jodi Picoult or Alice Hoffman. Their books are well-written and not at all formulaic like Sheldon. Each book they write is very original and generally not predictable.

The best of his books is probably Doomsday Conspiracy (which I read in one day), but I also love The Sands of Time, Rage of Angels, If Tomorrow Comes, and The Stars Shine Down.

I ADORE of all his books - to me he is the greatest storyteller of our time.
His earlier stuff was better I think. My favourites are:-
Master of the Game
If Tomorrow Comes
Memories of Midnight (and the one that came before that)
The Sands of Time
The Doomsday Conspiracy
Rage of Angels
Pure Genius - Happy Reading
