because men are pigs and think they can screw anything

Because a woman that is sexually comfortable with herself scares the hell out of men. Men like to vision themselevs as the more dominant of the two sexes, therefore leaving them t o be the agressors and overtly sexual ones. Thus, when a women walks into a room with a slinky dress and a flirt for a couple of men, some insecure men because nervous and unable to handle the fact that the women is getting more play than them.

This is not, however a dis to men. I'm just saying that some men give this as their reason. And some men actually enjoy a girl that is sexually comfortable. And why wouldn't they? It's better off for them.

It's pure misogyny and double standards. the trouble is most men want their wives to be virginal - but at the same time filthy in bed - it's stupid and archaic. If a man ever said something like that about me I'd give him a hiding. The trouble is also, that a lot of women call other women slappers too.

Cos to men your judged by the amount of women you sleep with for women we're only judged by how good we look how we cook and if you haven't slept with a lot of men you're a keeper sad to say but all we're missing is the caves cos most men are still cavemen. But women don't do ourselves any favours when we call women that sleep around s l u ts. God we're such bitches stuck in a bad predicament :) :) I'm ranting a little .... ok a lot bye

It might be related to the reason why men are called "studs" while women are called... well you know...

It is the product of a patriarchal past, possibly church-inspired, where womens' sexualities were far more oppressed than those of the males (the inquisitions are a dark example of this in action).

The only way to combat a failing in language is to produce new language that bridges the gaps.

I've heard men call women other things but have never heard the word slappers. I call a man a dog when he sleeps around because a male dog will hump anything (legs, cats, other dogs).

I always thought the same thing. People seems to think that only female can be a wh@re, but I feel males can be as well. As a matter of fact, when I use to party I use to call this guy a wh@re right to his face because every night he'd be leaving the bar with a different girl. He'd simply laugh when I'd call him that!!!

I can never understand it when women say that men sleep around more than women do. If we leave gay people out of the mix, men who sleep around, sleep around with women, so I don't understand the logic of the argument. What I am saying is that women sleep around just as much as men.

In the words of lil kim, 'It's a common double standard in society'...

I think it's because people respect a woman's ability to turn sex down, because the general belief is that men need sex but women don't. I'm not saying it's right, just a possible explanation.

Double standards. Women are the nurturers and since every man has this lovely idea about his mother and since every woman is a potential mother, they are meant to behave in a certain way. However , since every man is a potential Cassanova and need women (most men ) to develop this part of their personality, women are expected to behave in the completely opposite way to the way that a man feels she REALLY should be behaving. So, he uses her and then slags her off. Simple, really. Not very fair to women, tho, is it?
