This is a good question. Music I listened to when I was younger (even five or ten years ago) evokes emotion and I do listen to it. For example, recently on iTunes I purchased Scritti Politti a band I was listening to in the 1980s. It brings back happy memories.
I think for me it comes down to whether that music was really good. Timeless music can always be listened to, but there does need to be some sort of connection with it.

At times, yes I do. There's nothing wrong with listening to the songs you use to. Besides it can bring back a lot of good memories, and often does.

Oh yeah! It's the only music I listen to these days. Today's music sucks! There was REAL music when I was growing up. (The 70's and 80's)

I listen to some classic rock yes. I still listen to modern music though, even rap. (some not all).

Yes, some I listen to are before my time. I do not hear much recent music that speaks to my soul.
