Acting up in what way?

Not scrolling around? That's usually crud collected on the rollers inside... if you haven't cleaned them then make sure they are cleaned... use a fingernail and damp cotton bud. Also grease on the mouse ball can cause grief... so wash your hands while holding the mouseball, dry it on something that doesn't get fluff on it (not a paper towel... tea towel or jay cloth is best).

If you are feeling brave it may be worth taking the cover off (probably held on by 1 screw through the base) and blowing the collected fluff and crud out from inside the mouse body as well.

If that doesn't fix it, a new mouse isn't that expensive... under £5/$5 probably

If your mouse has an infra red sensor to track movement instead of a rolling ball the problem might be your mouse mat.

If your mouse mat has a picture on it, try testing the mouse using a piece of white paper instead. I had the same problem before and so went and bought a single colour mouse mat.

I think your computer slow running is a different problem, try getting a different virus software like Mcafee.

Is it a cordless mouse? If so, maybe it just needs new batteries. If not, check the cable - make sure it is securely plugged in. If it is, buy a new mouse. They're not that expensive.
