That would depend on why the fish is loosing scales. Goldfish will loose scales due to breeding and some will loose them due to parasites or other disease.

You need to be sure as to why they are loosing their scales and that it is not due to parasites.

Usually not, no. Not because the medications aren't good, but becuase they don't treat the right thing.

Parasites are the usual cause of a fish losing scales and without more details I would suggest you try Clout or Maracide for treating that problem. Both are very good wide range parasite control medications.

After spending nearly $100 on stuff for sick fish I would say good luck with it as i found nothing could save my fish from this horrible thing. Be prepared for the worse...I got vet advice and Pet shop advice brought the required medication and nothing could fix it and than it turn into something else which eventually killed the fish. Good luck with it all, I hope you have better luck than me.
