neither, both tracks have too many tight corners, those bikes would have to slow down so far into their power-bands to rise up to hit the next curve. neither one of those bikes would win either race. they would both be out-performed by the smaller lighter bikes. the half-liter and less bikes are much better in the twisties than their larger cousins. check out the video below, I think you would be surprised. keep in mind, the camera is mounted on a bike with about 30HP

Today speed is not the only thing if you mention a certain circuit like Laguna Seca.
Back in the Old Days you had to be a better driver to win a race. In those days the BMW kept the record for many years...

R1 no competition on that one, it's all about power to weight and the R1 is light. Of course the rider has the most influence on that race, but he would half to really screw off to lose. There is only one bike out there that can beat the R1 thats either a hyabusa or ZX14 top end wise.

The R1 would win hands down, i've been on track with the 2 of them and the R1 leaves the 1200R behind.
BMW do not make good race bikes
I'd back the Yamaha any day!!

The R1, It might not be as fast, but it is puts out more horse power (R1 puts out 180, K1200 puts out 163). The R1 is lighter, has better cornering than the BMW, and much better handling. But the BMW is a NICE BIKE

I would put my money on the R1 just because it's a beast. I'm not a fan of either though. The 1300 Hyabusa or the ZX14 would eat both of these bikes anywhere. Just my .02

I don't follow road racing all that closely. Do any of the teams race BMW? I have only seen the big 4 out there. If there aren't any BMW's winning races then I think that answers your question.
