its to do with the whole greek legend of the City of Troy - when prince Paris stole Queen Helen from Hector who lived on a different greek island called Sparta - he decided that if she wouldn't go back with him then he would destroy the city and everyone in it - so he sent in a very huge wooden horse as a gift of surrender after a war that they had - little did the trojans know that it was filled to the brim with spartan soldiers including the mighty Achilies - who later was killed with a cut to his heel - they subsiquently burned the city of troy down and killed most of the people in it - but hector was killed too and Helen still escaped with Paris to Paphos and set up home there instead - loads of quotes come from this battle - such as - never look a gift horse in the mouth, beware of greeks bearing gifts, my achillies heel - known as a weakness spot in the human body - its a good story - look it up or watch the movie troy

it's a saying that means "do not believe whatever others say; do not take whatever others give you". it's from the story about the Greeks giving their enemies a big wooden horse called the Trojan Horse, pretending it to be a present. The enemies accepted it and displayed it in the town square. then at night, the Greek soldiers that were hiding in the big horse came out and started attacking the city from within. The country lost the war.

You shouldn't, but you should be aware of Geeks bearing gifts... Seriously, accept just one pocket protector or mini calculator from them and they'll follow you around forever.

Not when it's a gigantic hobby horse with lots and lots of soldiers inside intent on burning your city to the ground and doing nasty things to you.
