I was in Rota, Spain (Military) in spring of 1995 and we would watch MTV (European) before work in the morning and this song had regular airplay at the time. It was an upbeat Euro dance song I think that was played in the clubs and so forth. I wanna say that there may have been a female singer in the band. But the lyrics contained the word "dresden" throughout and the song was pretty hip at the time. I have searched everywhere and cannot find the song or the Artist. Anyhelp would be awesome.

Your questions hit on so many wavelengths.

The Par Lindh Project (Swedish prog rock/symphonic rock) did a 1994 song called Dresden Lamentation. It was short (2:07) but it was the lead track for his "Gothic Impressions" album that year. The whole album is about a city in Europe called Dresden that was needlessly ruined by Allied WWII bombing. This keyboard specialist Lindh often uses female vocalists, including the famous Linda McCartney and talented Magdalena Hagberg on this album. I can't get lyrics yet but I'm on it. Supposedly, this track is "instrumental" but choirs are singing on it; maybe they are saying "Dresden" like you said.

I think your song could also possibly the seven-minute track called "The Iconoclast", or the third track which also has vocals on it called "Green Meadow Lands". Lindh has only the four rock albums he made, all from the 1990's - the rest to date is classical heavy keyboard arrangements. Lindh reintroduced the Gothic Impressions album to the public in 2004 by re-recording it with another strong new Swedish male vocalist and more choral arrangements, and it is well accepted as close to the original. This version is available on CD at his website - www.parlindh.com - which I just looked at.

This original sound is compared on web sites to the sound of the band Tangerine Dream, and this album itself is ranked as one of the Ten Best progressive rock albums of the world. You sure know how to pick 'em. I'm impressed just researching this.

Another item of interest: I'm also Navy retired, and was on Armed Forces Radio from 1989-1991 in Rota! What a great tour that was! I was also a DJ at the old 8-Ball downtown, next to the California bar. We can talk E-mail at your leisure.

Hope you find this music you're looking for off this info, shipmate.
