ok this sounds really weird but do they? my aunt in Brighton said she was walking along and something wet landed on her - it wasn't seagull poo and it was a clear, dry day, so it wasn't rain. so was it wee?

Yes and no.
Birds have a single hole called a cloaca and the waste and excreta are emitted together in the semi liquid, white substance with which we are all familiar.

That's the answer to your stated question but not of course to the underlying question, namely, what could the substance be that hit your aunt?

Not sure but I think their poo is solid food waste and liquid combined, hence it being the consistency of soup.

Their 'mess' is a mixture of urine and poop. Sometimes the proportions are more pee or more poo.
