a channel steel is is like a C but has a flat edge on all sides ( a square C) ) like u take an H but take out the lower legs off it

I can only assume that it refers to a steel beam on a drawing for a building. probably showing it as a H like the end section of RSJ

C purl, Z bars, H bars, I bars, T bars, etc
