It's because of social pressure. The same pressure that makes people get married, instead of just living together, also makes them get divorced. They see other people getting divorced, and it natually seems like the most appropriate solution, because it seems to be the solution chosen by everyone else.

If you mean divorce...it is a best solution when all else has failed for two people to be happy together.
If you mean a sexual device...it is better to use that instead of getting emotionally involved with so many people that you cannot identify a real solid-special relationship when it comes along.
