She is Queen of the Indies because in those roles she is allowed the freedome to intepret her charactor to her satisfaction instead of being pidgeon-holed into a pre-fab role.

Most of the movies she participates in are independent films, because she is not afraid of taking a risk in a role, and she has the persona to make the movie shine and standout from others due to her performance in those films because independent films give the the latitude and license of artist's interpretation for her roles to interpret them in any way she wants to and that allows her to shine in those roles.

In the mainstreem productions that I have seenher in were more confined roles and she didn't shine as much because of the contrainst in sticking the prescribed role as oppossed to having the license to make the role her own and they were no where near her potential (role as Fiona in "Josey and the Pussycats", Detective Carson O'Conner in "Frankenstien" pilot that failed, and Danica Talos in "Blade Trinity".

Because, for quite awhile, that's just about all she was doing. And it seemed like she was good at picking indies that wound up becoming critically acclaimed.

She did some great films, but one of my favorites was "The House of Yes." It's a WEIRD, messed-up film, but it's also highly entertaining. Not for everyone, though.
