Am going to get some stick insects. I have a large meshed enclosure, but not sure what they'll need inside it or what they need to eat. Any offers from people who keep them?

Hi, I kept stick insects as a teenager. A mesh enclosure should be ok if it is fine enough, although glass or plastic tanks are better, i kept mine in a big plastic sweet jar, like you get in sweet shops !! with holes in the lid
Some sticks are good to climb and they eat privet, which is easy to find in a lot of hedges etc. Just pick a load and prop it up in the tank, they will climb it as well as eat it.
Good luck

We have stick insects in a fish tank, plastic. We grow little pots of brambles and put the whole pot inside and let them hang on it and eat. When they have used that one we just exchange it for another, taking off the very young shoots first as apparently these are not good for them. They eat bramble and we also top them up with rose leaves. Haven't tried them on privet yet but they shed their skins. I thought at first one of their legs had fallen off! Their legs are so fine and thin and it is fascinating to watch.
A very fine spray on the leaves or just drop some droplets of water in for them to drink and that's about it really. I put kitchen paper on the bottom of the tank and then remove it when soiled and wipe round the bottom a little. Hope this helps.

stick insects needs a tank with a lid they eat bambles and privet leaves privet sticks to climb up all so they lay eggs the eggs are small tiny round black balls you can end up with lots of stick insects after a few months use white kitchen paper towel on the bottem of the tank so you can see the eggs more easily

You need a glass tank, because they can get through holes in mesh, especially young ones.
Stick insects love bramble, so cut a long vine of bramble and put it in the tank. Replace the bramble every week.
That's all they need.

I haven't had any for about a year now, but you need some kind of substrate (soil, peat, or coconut fiber) plus lots of branches for climbing. They eat vegetation, and you should find out what type you're getting (and what it's been fed already if it's been captive bred) so you can provide it with similar foods.
