I ask you this because it seems like being an overrated and underrated basketball player both have its advantages. Overrated seems like an insult, while being called underrated seems like a compliment. Although being called overrated shows that you already have a high status in the NBA.

Underrated, cause it shows that people are aware of who you are, that you do what you need to do, and when someone is having an off day you step up to take a more prominent role.
Being called overrated does sound like an insult, yes you may be good, but obviously your taking the compliments to your head and not playing good when you need to.

It's called "just show me the money". LOL!!
I don't think most of the players even pay attention to all the stuff us fans think, or talk about. They can be overrated or underrated, but as long as the paychecks keep coming in, I think they could probably care less.

You're right about overrated being an insult, although it doesn't necessarily have to apply to a big-name player.

I'd rather be an underrated under the radar player who helps my team win in any way possible.

I rather be called underrated.
Underrated means you're getting the job done as well or better as the next guy but not getting the credit. Thats ok with me as long as i get my ring at the end of the year.
