I'm a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. The Honor Guard at our post performs a ceremony at the War Memorial Monument in our community. A wreath is placed in front of the monument, to honor all who served. All the post members try to attend.

The first thing I did was to cry and feel sad for all of our soldiers who lost their lives. I also felt sad for their families who are dealing with their loss. There are so many stories and articles about these brave soldiers.
Did anyone read about the soldier who adopted an abandoned puppy I think in Iraq, he told his family about the puppy, and the next day he was killed? This just tore my heart out. His parents contacted their senator in WA, who got in touch w/someone in Iraq who was sent out to retrieve the puppy, get it checked out, and then it started its trip to its new home, his soldier's parents' home. How touching is that?
No, I'm not a military brat... my parents are not in the military. I just feel grateful and I hurt for these families.
