you have intensely experienced things that people should never have to go through. I would imagine that it could take some time to return to "normal" life (whatever that is)
please seek out others that have been through this and any help/support the military or your local community/house of worship/friends and family can provide
perhaps you will find trading a bad a$$ attitude for an appreciation of the things you have in life is a fair trade.
and you will find that there are those of us who truly appreciate what you have done.

You need time to "decompress."
After WWII, it took forever for the troops to get home. Once the hostility stopped it was still awhile before they could be sent home. Then, there were a couple weeks of turning in gear, packing, etc, and a lot of "mickey mouse" work. Then, there was a slow boatride home followed by a few days at a stateside base to be processed out.
The advantage of this-- the homecoming troops had a few weeks, months, to unwind before they became civilians again. They could talk to each other and get things off their chests.
A friend was in "Nam." One day he was on the line, two days later he was home.
A truck backfired, he yells "incoming" grabs his wife and drags her behind a dumpster.
He was home, but his mind was still on recon.
You need time to relax , unwind.
I wish i could help, but, please accept my "Thank you" for serving.

Seek treatment for P.T.S.D.
Being the same again...? you've grown in experience and understanding, learned the darkness in the world, look through a community college course catalog and seek courses in sociology. Good Luck.

yes, you will be the same again, in boot camp they prepare you to be defensive but not for the things you will see your mind has a memory bank and for a while you will think about what you saw its just a shock to the system but you will get over it... put god first and find other things to keep you busy...looniegal717@yahoo.com

Doesn't the army provide help groups/support to help you re-integrate into normal society after something like that? You should ask. Good luck though and thanks for all the great work you guys are doing over there....

Maybe. You might also take the experiences that you have & use them in your life.
