We're in PA, and frankly these teams might as well be in the Japanese league. The games start at 10PM eastern time,. so we don't see much TV coverage. What's up?

i'm a dodger fan living in l.a. and i can tell you that there is definitely a rivalry. when the season starts, people always want to buy tickets to either the opening game and to any series against the giants. we'd rather have the dodgers lose to the royals than the giants. when you're at the stadium and there are giants fans brave enough to wear giants gear, they get crap thrown at them all the time. it's kinda sad, but they should know better.

The fact that you have to ask this question is evidence enough that this isn't a national rivalry. National rivalries make the news, they're exciting and highly anticipated. The big networks fight for the rights to carry national rivalry games. You'll never see a Yankees-Red Sox game on some local channel, it's always on ESPN or Fox. Therefore if you don't think of it as a rivalry living in PA, it's probably because this is a local rivalry. Local rivalries are a whole different animal. The local news networks and papers will always make a big deal about a local rivalry game, even though it may not make a blip on the national radar. In the hearts of LA and SF fans I've no doubt there is still a rivalry, but in the minds of the nation as a whole there is nothing special about these games.

There is definately still a rivalry between the two teams. It's nowhere nearly as big as the Sox-Yankees rivalry, mainly because both teams rarely compete each other in a tough penannt race against each other. When one team is good the other sucks and the sucky one tries to take advantage of being the spoiler for the other team.

The Dodgers have developed a geographical and standings rivarly (especially recently) with the Padres but the biggest rival for the Dodgers is the Giants based on their history and past rivarly from NY.

Where did this idea of a rivalry come up? I've been watching Giants baseball for over 34 years and I don't hate the Dodgers. Of course you have people yelling "beat LA" and other stuff, but I don't pay them any mind. I treat LA fans in SF with respect because we're all there to have fun and root on our favorite teams.

There've been players that switched teams from SF to LA and vice versa, but I'm not childish to call them traitors. For christsakes, Dusty Baker even managed the Giants! I would think that the Giants have more of a rivalry with the Oakland A's only for bragging rights in the Bay Area. That's all.

For the older fans that remember all the rivavlry between these teams, I guess there is, but for giants and dodger fans under 25, we hate eachother cause I guess we are supposed to, not that big of a deal, I hate the Pades just the same and that might just be because they are in the division. It is no where near Yankees and Bo-Sox though, not even close. We fight for a division title not the World Series.

there's a rivalry still ya.

but not as bad as it use to be because there hasn't been a
closeness in there standing's as much as it use to be.

which in term's mean's they play meaningless game's
against each other.

i can't remember the last time there where both chasing a
pennant against each late in a season either.

1 team or the other has been way better than each other in recent year's.

as far as the red sox's Yankee rivalry the sox's has made
more out of it than the Yank's i think the Yankee's have like
won 25% of all world serie's and the sox's are jealous of that.
