Is there truth to these? [about women and beauty]?

Question

-You shouldn't put mascara on your bottom lashes.
-You shouldn't pluck on top of your eyebrows
-You shouldn't shave your arms
-You shouldn't shave your thighs

why not? my mom always tells me this stuff and i don't get it. and what little things like this are true?

I agree with the first two sentences, but totally disagree with the last two.

Only putting mascara on your top lashes makes your eyes appear more open and larger, which is definitely a good thing.

DO NOT EVER pluck your eyebrows from the top. A little goes a long way, and you do not want to end up looking like a caveman. High eyebrows are a lot more attractive. Only pluck from the bottom.

I don't shave my arms, because I don't really see a need to. The hair isn't really thick or anything. I couldn't tell you about that one.

The skin on your thighs is very sensitive, and there's usually not a lot of hair that grows there, so why bother? You never need any regrowth that isn't absolutely necessary.

actually, they are true. 1)if u put mascara on the bottom of ur eyelashes, u will totally look like a ghost. 2)it is not advisable that u pluck the top of ur eyebrows, otherwise u'll have empty patches on ur eyebrows, which no one wants.3) that is silly, why shave arms and legs? the more u shave, the more you'll have to keep shaving it and it will get really curly and hairy like a guy's leg!

well, the not putting mascara on the bottom makes your eyes look fuller. plucking your eye browws from the top can make them grow a little out of control, fuller eyebrows are more youthfull. dont shave your arms unless you want to look like a monkey and the thighs thing, there is nothing wrong with shaving your whole leg. but only shaving part will save you time..lol. lots of these are just personal choice, momma is probably just passing on her opinion.

1. You should only wear mascara on your bottom lashes if you have naturally dark eyes/features around your eyes. Brown eyed girls pull this off the best. On people with lighter features, it looks weird and out of place. You just have to know what kind of make up to put on to flatter your features. It looks awesome on some people, as long as you don't put too much on.
2. It's a waste of time, really.
3. It's a myth that hair grows back darker and thicker. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/hair-removal/AN00638 However, shaving your arms looks really, really stupid. If it bothers you a ton, use nair or get a wax.

i agree with 2nd, 3rd, 4th...plucking on top of the brows changes it's natural shape/arch, it would look kinda weird if u're not a pro...shaving your arms makes the hair coarser, fine arm hairs are best left alone, some find it sexy even(penelope cruz has soft arms hairs)...same goes for your thighs, it's better to wax the arms and thighs if they bother u alot, personally the only place i shave is my lower legs, everything else i wax or pluck....

as for the mascara thing, i used to never put mascara on my lower lashes, coz i was told it would draw attention to dark circles...but i don't find this to be true if u wear a good concealer and line your lower eyelid with white eyeliner...it actually makes ur eyes look enormous.

I've never heard any of that. I don't put mascara on my bottom lashes, because it makes me look like I have a black eye, but other women seem to do it without problem.

Have you asked your Mom why?
