Both hours of WWE Raw beat all NBA playoff games last week. An episode of Spongebob and Masked men were ahead of some games too. Spurs will have it handed to them again. They've already been in the 2 lowest watched Finals in history, in '03 and '05. This year could be the lowest. With all that's going on in the NBA, how long before ratings are lower than the WNBA??? WES, I know the WWE is not a sport and I didn't say it was. It still beat the NBA when they don't benefit from all the media coverage and being on sportscenter and the all the sports web sites/newspapers/magazines, etc.

as long as the spurs keep on winning, WNBA will eventually have a higher rating. it seems they're gonna do it again. oh well.

Hey Jeff,

your point is well made that the NBA is losing its popularity.

But there is no way in the world that the WNBA will ever be more popular than the NBA. Women's basketball is always going to be more boring to watch than men's basketball. They play the game at a slower pace- they can't dunk (except on a breakaway and then the game is stopped for 30 minutes to celebrate). Even the girls i know who do watch basketball can not watch WNBA.

I was once offered free tickets (front row) for a Sparks game and i refused... it's like watching two bad high school basketball teams play.

The NBA players are much more marketable and there just isn't a woman's basketball player than you'd much rather watch than Kobe, etc.

I agree though Stern is killing us...

First of all... you can't compare TV sports based on ratings. It is like comparing a vacuum cleaner infomercial to an episode of "Grey's Anatomy". They play in different markets.

WWE wrestling and Spongebob is on broadcast TV, while most NBA games are on cable TV (Most people don't have cable).

Also, the NBA makes alot more money with clothing, product endorsements, and ticket sales.

No WWE wrestler has his own brand of Nike $200 shoe.

I think it will happen soon as WNBA is expanding and the NBA is maxed out with 32 teams and no salary cap relief in sight. Those guys are way overpaid, and seeing the same teams play over and over in the championships is hard to watch.

Probably never. Even though the quality of actual team play is excellent in the WNBA, women's sports don't get the corporate sponsors, TV contracts or the major bucks to promote their sport. People would rather watch a bunch of guys dunk (whether they can do anything else or not).

Wrestling isn't a sport, it's an entertainment. But yea NBA is kinda boring nowadays, I want to see some more fights like the ones where Stephan Jackson beat up Detroit.

There is no way the WNBA will ever have higher ratings than the NBA. How dare you compare WWE and Spongebob to the NBA, are you a kid? If you don't want to watch the Spurs that's your business but I will be watching.

Never, but it's hilarious to think about. The way these playoffs have been going this year, it's not hard to think how many people won't be watch next year.
