My husband works from 6am-8pm sometimes longer. I know that we CAN NOT afford a babysitter because we can't even pay most of our bills. We have no one to watch my son who is 2 yrs old. plus school is letting out for the summer in about two days. I have 3 kids in school. What can I do? HELP! We have bills to pay. And even a student loan.

We do make $200 more than we can make for any type of assistance.

People don't seem to understand, I have no one to watch my kids. Everyone that we know, works. My mother in law is the only one without a job but my kids are not going there because there is a child molester living in her household. I wont take any chances. I dont want her here either because she seems to think that its ok.

Have you checked into a job like at the boys and girls club. I used to work at one and got paid to watch and play with my own kids after school and during the summer.
It's a thought.... either that or start providing daycare in your home of other children. Keep the hours between your hubby's hours and it could work out well.

Have you ever heard of the "grandma program"? It is local to almost every area. You pick someone to watch your kids and the program will pay for it up to a certain amount. The cover a minimum but if you want some really fancy day care to watch them then the balance would be on you. Even if you picked a family member (considering they didn't charge an arm and leg) the program would even pay them. Check with your child's pediatrician or the Medicaid office to find more out about it. Some high schools, churches, and YMCA places allow you to post flyers looking for a babysitter during the summer for teen girls wanting a summer job as well.

Life is hard when you have kids. I understand exactly what you mean. Then I suggest you get a job from 9pm - 6am. If there is a boys and girls club, enroll the school age children in the club. Then you can get a job from 6-9. They sometimes server breakfast and lunch, depending on what city you are in. If you get public assistance, they will help with day care. Get a teenager (17 - 18 ) to watch the younger one, or all three for a small fee.

First, I can understand the dilemma you are in. I won't judge the situation but answer your question.
Since you need the income, here are some options --
Look for a child care center associated with a community college or university, or a non-profit organization.
Some of these institutions may provide care on a sliding-scale basis (ability to pay).
Your other option is to find a career you can work from home, is that possible?
Good luck and I hope things get better.

I understand your situation and how frustrating it can be. How about contacting employment agencies in an attempt to find computer work from home. Many companies need data entry type clerks, customer service, etc....which is all done via on-line. I worked for a large electronic corporation and several departments consisted of half of their staff hired to work from home. They set you up with their programs, etc.
Secondly - are any or all of your other three children old enough to watch your 2 year old even if you worked three/four days a week?
Best of luck to you and your family.

Sounds like your gonna have to get the Graveyard shift.
Meaning the Late shift.
At least you'll be able to work this shift while the kids are out of school.
If you know a teenager that you trust, you could have the teen comeover and watch the kids till your husband gets home.
(like if you get a job that starts at 9:00PM)

I had that problem years ago, I ended up finding another parent on my block with the same issue.
I found them via the neighborhood telegraph, my noisy neighbor across the street who knew everything about everybody.
Luckly we had opposite shifts, so we were able to watch each others kids a lot of times. Not ideal, but what are you gonna do?

do you know anyone with teenage kds? or talk to a local high school. i was in the national honor society and we were required to volunteer for so many hours a month. i did babysitting. maybe you could find some kids who need to do that too. plus since they're probably in an organization like that, you'd be pretty sure you get someone responsible

What about your parents? His parents? A friend that will watch the kids as a favor? Also-- for starters, look for a part time job that will work with you to work the hours that the kids are in school.
Good luck.

Start baking, sell your baked goods in your neighborhood. It's something you can do at home with the kids present. You can take the kids with you as you make the rounds selling your baked goods. People are always having birthdays and need cakes. It doesn't cost much to start and it will provide you with an extra income.
