it seems like most racists are the moonshine drinking, barefoot dancing kind of people from small towns

people from big cities seem to be more accepting of people from different races and sexual orientations

i also heard that most minute men are from states like Oklahoma and would be sitting in a rocking chair in front of their house all day if they weren't at the border

They're not. Many are from large cities, and many are closeted.

Racist are everywhere. Fat Al sharpton does not live in a little town. Some racist move to small towns to avoid the social plagues of big cities. The comment about being in the South is ignorant. Southern and Midwestern cities are hughe and much more diverse than any other part of the country. Check your census. Many racist hate each other becuse of constant exposure not "non" exposure. They have learned that they are so different that they can not live together in peace. Those are facts that you can see through the history of the world. Also, I live in Oklahoma, and there are many anit government groups here, but very vew racist oriented groups. Less than say New York, Florida, or even Virginia. You have set a bad and misinformed view of Oklahoma. Also, to be a Minuteman is not Racist, it is a Nationalist problem of rightouse value. Nothing to do with race.

On the contrary, I'd say people are generally more open and friendly in small towns. You say "it seems like most racists are the moonshine drinking, barefoot dancing kind of people from small towns" but where's your proof? What "it seems" like to me is that you're acting as a media mouthpiece, merely repeating stereotypes of the "hillbilly" racist in the south. I live in Detroit and I'll tell you one thing -- we've had some of the worst racists ever and continue to have them. Whether KKK wannabes, Black Panthers, condescending political opportunists, (many both liberal and conservative) or "ganstas," the big cities seem to be infected the worst of all. Wake up and stop letting the media do your thinking for you.

Did you look up from American Idol and make this conclusion? What an idiotic statement. Racism can happen anywhere at any time, take me as an example. I grew up in a large city unprejudiced, then through the years and all the hooray for me and f--- you groups, I learned prejudice. Mainly because I was the W.A.S.P. type person they were trying to take rights away from. Some of the kindest and most tolerant people on earth live in small towns.

Probably becuase most of the people in small towns are not integrated as much as in big towns. If there are less minorities, people will find them akward when they haven't had to deal with that sort of situation. Another thing that seems true in small towns is that the people seem to have older fashion values. Which leads me to believe that they were raised to be a little more predjudice. Eventually they will catch up with bigger towns perceptions. It just might take a few more generations.

they are ignorant they were raised in communitys with little or no racial diversity so they are what they believe and what they are taught to believe, you cant blame them in a way prehaps they are afraid cause they dont know anything about different races i think everyone should live in bigger citys just to experience different people different cultures it cant hurt ...you know we all need to step out of our comfort level the damm world would soo be a better place when we all feel loved i dont like how society deems white people more powerful and domaniant over other races we all work we all make money we all do our thing the world isnt perfect by no means but damm has white folks really f u c k ed up this country!

Because there is more diversity in large cities. In smaller towns (i.e. in the Midwest and some places in the South), the population is mainly white, so they don't interact with other races much. Some base their impressions of other races on stereotypes.

You answered your own question. Because they never got out of the little box that they live to see the world. They don't know anything else but their guns owning, cross burning etc.. neighbors. Also they don't have big, elite colleges that they can go to.
