I have two LCD displays, one is on my laptop and my desktop also has one. I recently bought my laptop and was using it for a little while, and came over to my desktop and turned it on and it looked extremely dark! It was because the laptop is turned up to full brightness and I turned the brightness on my desktop down a while ago and just got used to it, didn't notice how low it was until after using my laptop.

So anyway, should I turn down the brightness on my laptop too? Would it be good for my eyes, or is it really no different? It's only that bright when I have it plugged into the power supply.

First, its brighter because youre settings are trying to conserve power when running on batteries.

SECOND, I think an alternative light source just to the side of the monitors would be best, because like a TV your eyes need that.

ANd, resting your eyes every 45 minutes or so, sould be good as well.

as far as how bright..wellbetter is how low you can adjust the brightness and contrast to see comfortably, With a light source to the side, and resting your eyes periodically is the bets way to preserve your eyes

You should adjust the settings which suits your eyes. Different people tends to feel different setting level. Best thing is to set the brightness to match your eye preference.

Less brightness on display will lead to low power consumption. That's why laptops switch to low brightness whenever it turns to battery power.

if this is the case then why don't you go for a cooler glass which covers the monitor screen. then you might not worry about the hazards.
