Keeper of a shop, store owner, proprietor. that is a really old term.

I take it you mean shopkeeper? The person who keeps a shop. Usually a small business, single owner store. If yopu 've ever seen the British TV programme (maybe on Sky) "Open all Hours". That is a perfect example. Hope this helps
