I've had a procrastination problem my entire life and it's always been tough getting long-term projects and other stuff done. I've tried a bunch of methods but i haven't been able to stick with any of them. I've also talked to a psychiatrist about it, but i'm just wondering what other people think. Thank you. :)

im a big procrastinator and when i really end up doing something is the night before i have to have it done. i found that whenever i think about what ever it is i need to do, i just say forget what im doing right then, whether it be eating, playing a game, or just watching tv, and just get up and work on it. you wont do anything unless you make yourself do it. just take yourself seriously, otherwise youre only fooling yourself.

I'm a big procrastinator too. I'll pay bills up until the last hour they are due. I hate when I do that. But in regards to your question, I've felt that doing things first thing in the morning helps out a lot. I started my working hours later so I can get things done at home first. Then when I get to work, I have a sense of completion from home and it gets the ball rolling at work.

Maybe you can set a small personal everyday goal on what to achieve everyday. List it down the night before so that u are clear on what to do the next day. It doesnt necessary that u have to finish the big task all in one day. Its ok if its just a small deeds/task that u have to do. Do it slow and steady bit by bit everyday until u reach the due date. Then reward yourself for the goal u have accomplished on that day. I always do that and it helps. Hope it helps u too.

You sound like my twin! I always get paper assignments early, but I finish them at 4am the morning that they are due! I can't seem to find a solution either. I think that I just need to sit down, take all the distractions away, and focus! I hope it helps.

I have the same problem myself. A good way to overcome the problem might be to set deadlines which are a week ahead of the actual project. This would help you have a week to review your work.

Make a chart of what you want to do. Separate it into small daily things and check them off. Each time you check each day off you will feel like you have accomplished something. Then work towards your next goal. Don't make your goals to hard to reach at first. You can make them harder as you feel more accomplished.
