I think many people become so engrossed with setting up a safe afterlife while living their earthly lives, that it becomes almost impossible to live a life at all. If someone is constantly worrying about every move they make for fear that they will go to hell or experience an equally negative afterlife experience, a few things are being effected. First off--and this is based on my beliefs, K--God wants us to live for him, maintain some of those common religious threads (maintain morals like kindness, forgiveness, charity, loyalty, etc.) AS we live the lives He has given to us. If anyone is worried about where they're going after they die--I guess what I mean is if someone believes in an afterlife--they must believe in some God or supreme being, right? Assuming yes, wouldn't this supreme being have some sort of plan? (Yes that is also a big part of my belief structure.) It wouldn't make sense for the plan to be for everyone to go to hell, would it? So salvation, practically speaking, would be available.
Also, I think that these people who waste their lives trying to secure a good afterlife are missing the opportunities God is giving us at this very moment to be blessings to others, being a vessel for HIM, letting His light shine through us. THAT is what gets you into heaven, not wasting this blessed life He gave to us.

the expression fools paradise comes to mind in all it's detriment .should I put off this life thinking it's not the only and most important thing in reality . should I procrastinate and forego judgment expecting the gods to takes over when they never have before and should I diminish my serious desire for a better world because someone says wait for the next one ? the progress throughout history seldom came about in this way ;people acted to ameliorate this world in the here and now because the present is the only time it can be effected.

No because of the fact i do no longer think of i've got self belief in a permit hell. If God is crammed with plenty love how he can he/she throw you right into a permant terrible place? i think such as you are able to opposite what you probably did incorrect via doing issues real later on. consequently, i won't be in a position to be distracted via if i visit hell or no longer, yet when I harm somebody and what is going to I do approximately that. in case you difficulty to plenty with reference to the afterlife than you're no longer even hectic approximately your actual existence.

Obsession, yes absolutely!
Any obsession is dangerous. Obsession deflects people from reality and controls their lives.
To answer the second part of your question. It doesn't affect me because I'm not obsessed by it. Any passing obsession I pick up tends to be very mundane.
