I was going to buy a NEW Honda Civic Hybrid, 45mpg is very nice. But reading about cars like the Chevy Volt or the Ford Edge with HySeries Drive I figured, if I bought that 2007 Civic Hybrid and GM sells a 2009 VOLT like hybrid electric (100mpg) while gas price floats to $4.50/g, my Civic would be worthless. For now I’m waiting, driving my 1998 Corolla, and telling everyone I know to wait if they can.
If you can't wait, go for the Civic Hybrid.
If you have lots of cash, go for the 2008 Tesla Roadster.

Get a hybrid car. Toyota, honda and some american makes are already producing these. Examples are the prius, civic, crv
