Like most blacks can dance, most are very atheletic, but if you ask something about them being cold interolerant everyone thinks you're a racist.

It is NOT okay. "Positive" stereotypes are stereotypes just the same. To make ANY type of race based assumptions about anyone is indeed racist.

And, regardless of what many people say, it is NOT a fact that most black people can dance, are very athletic, etc... These ARE stereotypes. Your experience, or the experience of others, is not enough to determine whether or not all or most people of any race say, do, think, feel, or believe certain things or that they possess particular qualities, characteristics, or abilities. And statistics cannot determine this either, as statistics are unreliable.

Race doesn't determine who we are.

EDIT: Great point, Gregory! I agree with you 100%!

Most white people really *YArN*at the race thing. This is only because it doesn't affect them. Let me make a statement about you: you are rich, you live off of your parents, you are going to marry a rich white dude that looks "Hot" but he has a really small p---s. There. That is what many people feel about white women. How could this be true? I don't know you. No place that judgement onto a WHOLE group of people. This is the pain that goes with generalizing about people or "stereotyping". I am Black and I know a lot of my people who are not athletic of can dance. Please don't approach black people with that. There are no Positive Stereotypes; they all hurt.

Well there is one thing you can stereotype about ALL humans, and that is that we are all selfish. Why throw away a positive stereotype, no matter how dumb and false it is, when it can give you leverage in society. People who are racist are people who see in people in terms of their racial background, whether it be your own race or someone else's race. People who are racist don't see skin color or facial features as just physical characteristics of a person, but see it as indicators for inherently inborn genetic features, as if they are an almost completely different species. In other words, they don't see you as Bob Smith, or the smart guy. They see you as black, asian, white, hispanic, mutt, mixed, etc. as if your physical features make the ENTIRE essence of your being. They assume you're smart because you're asian. They assume you can dance because you're black. They assume you're rich because you're white. If you were a black man, you can evem still be racist by assuming positive racial stereotypes about your race. Assuming black people are criminals is racist, but assuming they are all athletic and good dancers is racist too, even if you are a black person saying that about your own "race".

To me, any racist isn't worth your time. Just ignore them or their comments. Racism is a stupid meme that will die out before you know it. There is no research that "race" results in certain inherent traits.

i don't see any stereotype as being ok, with the aid of fact it disregards the persons of a set and clumps all of us interior that group into one finished theory or which potential. Like I stated, stereotyping basically denies the guy's unique traits. Why human beings settle for those so noted as "beneficial" stereotypes? i don't comprehend.

No stereotype is positive. The term positive stereotype is an oxymoron in and of itself. Who said it was okay in the first place? Oh, you must have sent out a questionnaire to all 40 million plus black people in America and base on that questionnaire you determined that black people approve of a "positive stereotype". Thanks for playing and here is your card.

Who cares. Don't generalize people at all every individual is different I'm black and I honestly can't do any of the things you mentioned at least not very good lol. Just don't stereotype at all even if it supposed to be a good thing.

It's like that with everyone, positive stereotypes are mostly laughed at and stuff, like oh all blacks can dance! and it's not a negative thing. like one time at school we were supposed to be doing tolerance training, and they made us write down a stereotype for every type they had on the board, and I wrote down a positive thing for every one b/c I don't wanna make drama or be rude.

Generalizations and stereotypes are stupid, good or bad.

I'm an individual...I'm me...I cant dance or play basketball...so that stereotype is invalid. I dont like Watermelon, or fried chicken...so that one is garbage as well...

Everyone is different....

Most black people can dance and are athletic. The men are well endowed. The women are curvaceous and strong. Those are not stereotypes, that is fact.
