as a high school kid in texas i dont see why we cant have a bible study class. i mean there are so much thing wrong with schools theses day. everyday i have to watch a group of gays/lesbian in the hallways kissing (im not trying to be intollerent of them but i dont support that). i see drugs bein delt. teenage girls pregenant. gang related violence. and loads of other things that the schools do not deal with. but some one talk about bible in class and gets in trouble.whats up with that? if people really cared about todays youth they would have God back in school.

ok to those who say it would press kids into taking the class......it would be an elective class.......to those saying we would have to teach the torah koran ect. its the samething with different languages we cant teach (spanish, frnech, chinese ect) them all so we pick the most popular.. the bible is easily the most known document for religions in the US and the bible is backed by history by that i mean the kings and rulers it all goes along with history

Not everyone believes in the same religion and some people are atheists. Our constitution says that there is a separation between church and state. Having Bible classes will not prevent homosexuality, teen pregnancies or any other problems.

Besides the fact that the Constitution expressly states that there will be a separation of Church and State, generally meaning the Federal government will not promote any religion in general thus trying to allow for the freedom of people to choose. The way the bible should be taught is widely varied even amongst religious groups. Interpretation of the bible is so varied that what one church believes and what another believes are completely contradictory in many instances.
I believe that our nation was founded by men of deep religious conviction but these same men also deemed that there needed to be a separation between the government and the church because it was the lack of ability to interpret the bible as they saw fit. This, lack of ability, led the way for the religious persecution that caused our forefathers to come here and create a place where EVERYONE could choose the way that they worshiped. Teaching the bible in school would not allow for the MANY varied interpretations of the bible and be agreeable to everyone especially since not everyone even believes in the bible.
If you care about the youth of today, stop trying to leave it up to the schools to police them and make parents accountable for their children. My parents did it for me and I'm a productive member of society. If you can't handle your children you shouldn't have had them in the first place.

There are categories for the period of the nation that use ingredients of holy writ from all kinds of religions except the Bible. Is that to any extent further constitutional? Since the Bible and its philosophies have inspired western History for enormous quantities of years it would honestly supply a few perception into how our possess tradition is formed versus the "deny all ties" angle in schooling at present. Also, if the category is an non-compulsory, now not necessary, how is any individual's proper being infringed upon? This is why schooling will have to be localized, seeing that you already know a few fools from Washington will inform them to give up while it is a software that the locals appear to desire. Heaven forbid a college or neighborhood replicate the values and ideals of the persons that honestly reside there!

It is not the job of teachers to teach the Bible, it is the job of parents. If we were to teach the Bible, we should also teach the Koran, the Torah, and any other religious texts. If we were to follow the examples of this nation's forefathers, than Deism should be taught, as they believed in the moral teachings of the Bible, but not the miracles, such as the virgin birth.
As for the problems of the youth, that is as much the fault of the churches as anything, in not teaching their followers the whole Bible, including how to preach and teach it, so that they are capable of teaching their children.
Besides, why are you concerned with fixing this old system's problems. That is not what the Bible teaches. This old system will be destroyed, along with those involved in it. If you cannot bring yourself to turn your back on the old system, you will find yourself joining their destruction, just as Lot's wife did.

Bible class cannot be taught in public schools because they are run by the goverment. Since people have their first amendment rights you choose what they want to believe without the goverment having any say. A way you can get around this is by having a Christian club (or whatever religion you are). Since the students can choose if they want to join and the club is run by students they school can't be charged with obstructing your first amendment rights.

It is a personal opinion/belief of the person wishing to teach it. It has no basis in fact and should not be inflicted upon innocent children.

I don't understand why people are so hostile toward religion when we live in such a liberal society that encourages each person to pursue and proclaim that for which they stand. Why is it that religion/spirituality is EXCLUDED from that? Isn't it censorship as well?

Because then people might actually have to believe in Jesus. They are afraid they might have to admit that are not Gods themselves but that their is a higher power.
