Yes, she's right. Football is all about kicking a ball down the field but its that simplicity that gives it a global appeal. Played by nobles and subjects alike, the rich and poor, learned and ignorant. And that global appeal is what makes it an extremely powerfull tool for social transformation.

How many can afford Formula One or Nascar, golf kits or watch prime time boxing. Unlike pro wrestling, grid iron, cycling, baseball, athletics, you name it soccer is a relatively clean, steroid free sport because effort is only part of it.

And talking of highs, you do not have to be an upper class (6 foot + ) Crouch to succeed. You may be a lower class (5 foot -) Maradona and still be a star (and I hate to say this) end up on a high.

I love, love, love football.......no other sport like it.

I hear that all the time. People are always saying that all you do when you get the ball is kick it towards the opposite goal, so what's the point? That's so not true! You have to have a quick goalie, with good hand-eye coordination, defense has to have a hard tackle, or else defense is useless. The stopper has to push up the team on the feild. Forwards have to be fast and be good at fakes, cuts and turns to get past the opposing team's defense! In order to maintain possesion, you have to pass the ball, instead of playing kickball and just booting the ball towards random places.

For some reason teaching the tactical element is discouraged at the youth level, thus reducing the game to kicking the ball up and down the field. I coach, I don't follow the anti-tactical guidelines, and my team is 14-1.

Because soccer isn't a high scoring game so people often misjudge it. They fail to see that there is so much more involved than just kicking the ball up and down the field because they choose not to see it or try to understand it.

Football (Soccer) is the best sport in the world, and it is the most popular. its beauty comes from the ability of the player to show his/her skills using the foot not the usual hand like most of the other sports. and it is fun. you don't have to have all the best equipment to play it. you can use any sizable round ball and you are good to go.

Maybe she was speaking from her own experiences. Beginners can enjoy playing soccer as long as they're willing to keep running and don't get scared of the ball.

everyone will have their opinion. i'm very open to all sports and understand every sport has a certain degree of skill and cordnation needed to play. having said that, i can still dislike sports.

a lot of times my friends will harrass me for be a hockey fanatic. they watch it on tv, they only see what appears to be easy passing of a puck and a bunch of bafoons hitting each other.

people will have their perspectives on everything, not everyone will agree with you. but at least you understand the sport.
