Being an asian male, I know I've suffered from stereotypes, but it seems as if every single asian guy out there is WAY overcompensating, really really forced machismo and hypermasculinity. I find all these asian guys trying to deeply submerge themselves in the hip-hop culture as they were black themselves and scatter the words "rice" "chopsticks" or other disgustingly stereotypical words throughout it. They have the whole overrated street racing culture. Excessive use of the word Dragon or rice. I could go on forever. This doesn't just happen in America either, which is extremely sad. Every single "asian" party I've gone to in college was always full of sketchy douchebags out for a fight, and often times it always ended up in some fight.
The funny thing is, the majority of the people I know who act like this were sweet, little, nerdy kids when they were younger who liked playing video games. Why is it that every Asian guy out there seem to be trying to prove something?

The thing is, whenever I bring this up, they call me a race traitor or something. So what if you are naturally nerdy or dorky? So what if you got a small penis? So what if you are short? I think it's a shame that people have to give up their personalities or pretend and be a poser just so they can feel like they've outdone the invisible "white man".
Another thing that alot of Asian guys try to "prove" to their figurative audience is that they can prove themselves worthy by getting a white girl or a black girl, as if those girls are so unattainable to asian guys that getting them would be an accomplishment. That's just stupid. I find that trying to "overcome" stereotypes is just damaging the community instead. If you can't love yourself for what and who you are, what else is there left?

Also, I find that alot of Asian guys who are bitter or angry and feel like they are being rejected because they are Asian is the most illogical concept ever. There is a youtube movie called "yellow fever" that focuses on the topic that asian girls prefer white guys over asian guys. But in the end, don't people realize that ANYBODY who judges on racial stereotypes or race itself is a racist and therefore isn't worth it? Don't people realize that most girls want a confident guy who isn't an insecure douchebag trying to prove to the world that he's a breakdancing thug? They prove this by the end of the movie as well. Yet I still see asian men out there who constantly have to prove themselves more superior by merely casting aside one set of stereotypes and portraying and embracing more stereotypes.

Oh yea, don't forget the MOST important overcompensation. Alot of Asian guys like this are VERY racist, xenophobic, and cliquey. Their groups consists of ONLY asian people, they will reject you if you don't do "asian" things (whatever the heck that is), and they are very very conscious about the way they look, talk, act, etc. *sigh* alright that's enough of my rant

I don't have much to say about today's asian youth, but if you truely embrace your culture you should care less how other people see you? Embrace your heritage, your culture has much to share, it is a gift from your ancestors.

I've seen that movie on you tube, lol, I wonder if there is a "why black girls can't get asian guys", seriously, I've been trying forever, lol! I didn't take the film seriously, it was just a joke. But some can view black men or white men the same way, over masculation that is. Hip hop isn't just a black thing either, If it was then I would be ex-communicated from the black community because I hate the stuff. I'm thinking that maybe because you are asian, you see the flaws that no one else sees in your race. No race is perfect, there are times when I look at my fellow black peolple, and think would martin luther like what we have become, like when you see a person on the news and they are talking about what had happened at a shooting scene, sometimes I cringe at the english they use or the senseless violence in black communities, but I at the end of the day, I'm black and I'm not like that, so I know that there are many decent black people, just have faith in your race :)

I hear what you say; I grew up in the S.E. Asian communities where some asians males have the exact attitudes you just described. It's insecurities, ignorances, and male egos. They're like little boys trying to be a man; They are old man in their 30's trying to act all men, but they're so childish! Most Asian women wanted someone who can take care of the family and is a provider as well as a partner. They need to get a clue.
You sounded very smart and educated. Just curious, are you teaching minority studies or some sort of ethnic studies?

I was stationed in South Korea and I have gotten to know a lot of Asian men. None of them fit the description you have offered. I'm not saying you're wrong. Obviously, you have formed this impression through actual experiences. I'm just letting you know there are many Asian guys out there who I have formed friendships with who are just great friends without the baggage you've encountered.

I agree with you. I have noticed that a lot of asians try to act 'ghetto' and its a turn off. I'm one of those girls that has an asian fetish. I love asian guys...but what will really turn me off when he is not being himself. I think they are trying to be accepted into society. Society likes to see asians in a certain way...one that I am nto certain about entirely. Basically, asian men should not live up to such expectations. Men should be themselves.
Furthermore, those guys that created asian fever were just trying to have a lil fun. I would know, they live in a community nearby. You can't really believe anything in that movie.

I haven't really noticed that, but some Filipino kids and stuff are joining gangs and trying to be street and junk like that, so maybe but i think it has less to do with being asian more to do with being seen as street.

I am korean when I went to US, I saw alot of asian with stereotype thing. bot Did you ever thought white kids in korean school are treated poorly only because they are white. My friends is white in my school. He was bullied by many my friends because he looked different. when you compare poor white people in korea with poor asian people in USA, asian people born in USA are well treated.

You are a smart man....unfortunately, that may be why I don't have any Asian male friends. Hopefully I wouldn't overlook a good person like you in the process.
Hopefully it will pass as they get older.
