I always remember this one 'cause it freaked me out. When I was pregnant with my first child every time I bought cat food some old lady would tell me I needed to get rid of the cat before the baby came, it would "suck the life out of the baby".
Finally I looked this up. The origin is when a baby falls asleep with milk on its mouth cats will come up and lick it off and try and lick in the babies mouth and cut off breathing. My cat was so old she could not have jumped in the crib...but we kept on eye on her.

If you put new shoes on the bed, it will cause a fight. I think my mother made up a lot of the 'old wife tales' herself'. Kept my shoes off the bed.

This is a weird one, but I think it is funny. My friend and I even tried it.

When I did this, I dreamt that my P.E. teacher was teaching me gymnastics and gave me a bottle of water!! LOL
