I'm in my school's advanced math and the teacher is really unfair towards me. I went on a two week trip to Taiwan and when I come back she makes me take a test I missed. So I take it and guess wut? I missed half of the questions. Theres 14 problems and i missed 7. But she counted the test as 27 so i missed 14 points! I had an A in that class and now its a C. I was crying so hard and i had a talk with her after class and she told me it was impossible to get an A again. She sed the most i could get would be a B but it was a slim chance. She said if I did good on the test I took Friday she would give me a B-. And lyk i heard this other boy in my class had lyk a C last semester and she gave him extra credit to help him. During our talk I kept asking if there was any other way to raise my score and she sed no! and she sed the other 5 kids in my class had a hw assignment counted as a test and she wouldnt let me have that chance so now I have one grade less than everyone else. Help?

Your dignity is more important that this grade. Sometimes we have to let something go in life. What will be important in your life in the future is what you have learned both from the curriculum and from the behavior of other people. You were right in going to Taiwan. You got more out of that than an A could have given you. Hold your head high, do your work, be kind and gracious, and let the teacher see the quality of the person she did not have the strength of character to help.

Unfortunately, you are responsible for any work you miss. If you are taking a vacation during a time when school is in session, you need to arrange to get the assignments. If it was a family emergency or some kind of a health emergency, I think the teacher needs to take that into account. But if you just went traveling and neglected your studies, I think I'd consider that kind of like cutting school.
If, however, your teacher is allowing others to make up work missed under similar circumstances, or giving them the opportunity to do extra credit work to improve their grades and is not giving you the same opportunity, then I'd agree that you may well have grounds for pursuing the matter.
If you feel your teacher is being unfair, you need to check with an academic counselor if your school has them. If such a counselor doesn't exist, you might make an appointment with the head of the Math Department for you school. If your teacher happens to be the head of the department, you might want to speak with the Principal, or Head Master of your school. I don't know how old you are, but my guess is that you're pretty young, so you might want to get your parents involved.
In academia, it doesn't make any difference how hard you try, or how nice a person you are. If you don't get the work done, if you don't understand the subject matter... you fail.
I know you probably feel badly used, but you might consider this. Is it fair to the other students in the class that you should be given extra time to prepare for a test that they took while they were attending class that you missed because you were on vacation?
This probably isn't what you wanted to hear. But I speak as a long-time student, and as an educator. Whatever the outcome of this little episode, you need to learn from this experience. If you are planning a trip during the time when you would normally be going to class, you need to make arrangements with your teachers--all of them--to get assignments and to be given ample time to prepare for any tests missed, and to arrange for makeup work if possible. Perhaps you could arrange to send assignments by E-mail to keep up with the rest of the class.

Try looking over to your mistakes(the problems i mean). I know it seems to be waste of time but this will give you a perspective to recover from past mistakes. Know the points to review and recheck, and know the points that you are vulnerable, like in the middle of the equation you forgot to simplify or add this figure...something like that. Don't mind too much on the teacher, not all teachers are friendly and can give the answers you're looking for. Its all about your effort. If this does not help at all, take some advice from the guidance department. That is all for now, good luck.

I don't think there's really anything you can do. It's your responsibility to make up the stuff you miss while you're on vacation. It's not your teacher's responsibility to give you more time, and it's not fair on the other students. They didn't have as much time as you did to study. Do your best on the remaining work in the class. That's really the only thing to be done.

Good day! We can't scape from that situation, sometimes our teacher's getting hate with us (students) because they're showed to us that they are the ruler of the class and they don't even employ sometimes the so-called "sence of belongingness". Infact, favoritism is an instinc to a teacher one. I advise you that if you're leaving your class for your journey to other country, you need to talk with your classmates or friends in your class that when you come back to school pls them to borrow their notes what have they taken or studied before while you are in other country so that you can study them in your home before you'll go back to school so that you are ready and well prepared for everything in your school specially to maintain your high grades. Be humble always too and be rational to your teacher even he/she hate you need them to respect always be good citizen be respectful.....

Lol. Sometimes we can't do anything.. but our parents can!! Basically, the school and the teachers are soooo afraid of your parents... they'll do anything for them! Expecially if you have very agressive parents like mine.... They'll go and complain and everything will be fine :D Just make sure that your story to them sounds convincing....and tell them that your going to get a C. That will always get them!

teachers don't hate students. your situation sounds fair. how can you expect a perfect grade if you weren't there? if you can't agree that this is fair, well, life's not fair, lesson learned.
when you get to college there is no bargaining, no excuses, and no 2 week trips. you get it done or you don't.

Have your parents speak to this teacher for you--maybe that will make her more sympathetic to your plight.
