Nope. I think epic and comedy work together.
What I don't think works is several subplots, very few with any substance.

I didn't like this movie much, but when you have an epic comedy like Indiana Jones or the original Star Wars (Han Solo, specifically), I definitely think it works! The comedy pulls the story together and helps the audience to understand the characters.

i liked it too but i think they had 2 put the comedy in cuz theyre trying to draw all sorts of audiences but i guess writers feel that everything has to be funny nowadays. but i did notice the comedy mixed with epic stuff.

sorry... even if (and that's a big IF) epic and comedy doesn't match, johnny depp definitely pulls it off awesomely!!!! i love him as captain jack sparrow and i think no one can do the part better....
