a "hoagie", a "sub" or a "hero"? Or do you call it something else?

I prefer "Sub" even though I've lived in places where you ask for either a "hoagie" or a "hero".

It's always seemed strange to me to order a hero, like someone could purchase a 6" or 12" Batman or Superman. Hmmmm......that gives me an idea.

I would ask for dark rye with about an inch thick heap of thin sliced meat and really sharp mustard. Any of those others have way too much mushy bread on them and are not worth the carbs. If I want a sandwich it may as well be worth the calories.

I've heard all 3 terms, but I used the term "sub". That seems to be the most common usage out here.

They are called subs here, but we order them according to the meats:
turkey & ham
tuna
Roast Beef, etc.
