one of our neon tetras appears to be getting smaller. it's always been the friskiest one and still has it's attitude so it doesn't really seem sick. any idea what could be going on?

It could be the other way round your other neon's are getting fatter as they fill with roe, the thin skinny one is the male he will continue to dart around the females, chances are you won't catch them breeding but they often do in a community tank.

Probably hyperactivity? Consider this, if a fat guy runs everyday, wouldn't he lose some extra pounds?

Although I don't think there is such athing as a fat fish but i guess the weight lost ideology applies to all species of animal.You run, you burn.

And since its behaving fine, just leave it, don't worry, he would not disappear in time.
