Nice easy drive, around 1,100 miles, via either of two routes. The northern one has spectacular scenery most of the way: I-70, then I-15.

The southern one is nice, but you miss the more spectacular mountain scenery: I-25, I-40, and then I-15. With the southern one, taking that route, instead of dropping farther south (I-25 to I-10, followed by I-8 westbound from Casa Grande, AZ, keeps you out of most of the oppressive summer heat... and is somewhat shorter. In Arizona, while on I-40, you can visit Painted Desert, Petrified Forest, Meteor Crater, Sunset Crater, and the Grand Canyon, in that order. Grand Canyon's about 50 miles north of I-40, at Williams. You can either drive it, or there's a very nice train that you can ride up there and back.

We are driving on the 22 nod from denver to San Diego and have to arrive early on the 25th.
Would love suggestions of where to stop and visit and hotels if we drive 6 hours a day. Or how to break it up and sleep in hotels 2 or 3 nights?
Thank you

At this time of year it would be a nice drive. I go to San Diego many times during the year, I live in LA. The trip is around 1100 miles or about 16 hrs of driving. So that means at least one night on the road, possibly two nights if you take your time and enjoy the drive. Beautiful country between the two cities. Enjoy it while you can. Stay on the main highways for time or take some secondary roads for enjoyment.

It's actually a pretty nice drive - I-70 to I-15 South. You have a wide range of routes once you get to southern California. Make it a point to stop in Las Vegas overnight!

If you go non-stop, plan about 18-19 hours, depending upon the length of your meal and bathroom breaks.
