It's not really the knuckles. Use your fingernails to dig into the seams.

When you release the ball don't let the ball roll off of your fingernails - instead push your fingers towards the plate. This action will limit the spin and allow the ball to wobble towards the plate.

People with small hands should use four fingers. If your hands are larger you can use the nails on your index and middle fingers to dig into the seams.

you may desire to start quite close. i all started approximately 5 feet lower back and threw against a fence with mats. while i could desire to definitely throw a knuckleball from the gap, I moved a pair steps lower back and repeated the approach. at last, the throwing action will come to you as you progression lower back to 60 feet and you will benefit velocity on the knuckleball. I grip it with the thumb on the realm and four fingernails on the ball. I grip it everywhere on the ball thats logical. good luck!

I would agree with above, except to clarify 'throw your fingers toward home' or how he described it, I think of it as opening your hand quickly right at release point. Yes, definitely keep the same arm motion, and I have found that keeping the same arm speed as well has actually decreased the amount of spin. Good luck to you!

The only thing I would add to Joe is that the arm motion has to be similar to that of a change up. Typically the release point is a bit higher and in my experience the longer fingers you have the better chance of success with the pitch.

i agree with everyone else except at first you just need to get it down with no spin ect..... but you cant have a slower arm motion or the batter will expect the pitch and since i throw it i just want to help others i hope i helped
