My favorite band(and thus in my opinion the best)? Oasis - Too many great songs - in a 4 year period, nearly EVERY single song they put out - whether it was single, album track or b-side - was classic.
The best band you've never heard of? Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - their first and latest albums are their best. Check them out if you have a chance - Berlin is a sleeper hit song of the summer...

The swedish group ABBA all their music is fantastic I realy like me "Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!"
Chiquitita, Dancing queen, Lay all your love on me, etc.
And the fact that they recorded songs in a lot of languages like Spanish, Swedish, French, Germany, English says that they were interesting in be heard by all the world.
I love their songs in Spanish.
