right click on a blank area of the sceen
go to settings
if you can change any of the settings past 16 bit color you are ok.
You may want to upgrade directx as well.
Windows xp i think shipped with version 6
( i could be wrong)
Many cards need at least directx 8.1
www.oldversion.com for older versions

If the video card was not working you would know it
Poor color - it would look like you were in safe mode
If you have not noticed it the video card is most likely installed
good for you

Click on 'Start ->Run' in the Taskbar.
Type dxdiag click on display, click test direct draw and test direct 3d
