I'd say you could put about 3 Cories in a 5 gallon.

They can live at room temp.

You should feed them any sinking food, twice a day.

Alrite, when it comes down to corydoras, you got to be more specific of the breed. There are many species of corydoras. And by rule of thumb, like its already mentioned, its best to have an inch of fish per gallon.

The largest corydoras is the barbatus catfish, which achieves a length of 2 1/2 inches while the smallest is the dwarf cory which only grows to an inch or less.

Therefore, its your call, do you want two big guys/girls or 5 small Dudes/Ladies? But never ever go way above the tank's limitation and get 5 big ones etc, it would cost stress and discomfort for the fish.(Like being crammed inside a train during lunch hour 24/7)

A good rule of thumb to use when deciding how many fish you can put into a tank without crowding them is one inch per gallon. If you have a 5 inch fish then it needs to be in at least a five gallon aquarium. In your case because the fish you are thinking about getting are probably not full grown, I would only put two cory cats into a 5 gallon aquarium. They will stay on the bottom of your tank so it is possible to get a couple more fish that do not feed on the bottom. Such fish would be guppies, platys, or mollies.

A good rule of thumb is not 1in of fish to a gallon, you can get 1 gallon bottles of water how much oxygen, co2 do you think will cycle through the surface area of 1sq in not a lot,

A fish over an inch long according the the standard rule of 12 sq in per inch of fish will struggle in your tank assuming it is 12"x12"x12" or approx 5gallons imperial. with no filtration you will maybe get away with 2 fish but your pushing it. With filtration you will do a little better, but you really should only keep the minimum amount of fish in that sort of tank. Of course this depends on the type of fish, labrynth fish I.E. bettas have the ability to breath atmospheric air, that of course helps when they put in demi johns.

4 or 5 Pygmy Cory Cats would be the best course. They will need VERY regular and frequent water changes, because a 5 ain't really big enough. W/C's every week.

3 Normal sized corys and 4-5 Pygmy corys. They are fun little fish, I adore cory's.
